ABOUT OUR MTB 101 COURSE
If you’ve done some riding, have a mountain bike and a looking to progress then this is probably for you.
Most MTB101 course’s run as private / one on one sessions, we have found this to have best outcomes as the skills covered can be tailored to meet your current level and aspirations. We also run courses with small groups of 2 – 5 riders.
On our Mountain Bike 101 course we head out on the trails at Red Hill and during the ride incorporate the essential skills. Generally we cover bike set up / Position & Balance (climbing technical trails efficiently & descending safely) / Operation of Control’s (braking / gears and cadence) / Terrain Awareness (Improving the ‘flow’ of the ride) amongst others.
We have a focus on developing a very mobile, strong, centered riding position with the aim of improving confidence and control in all situations.
We introduce individual manoeuvre’s such as wheel lifts / bunny hop / roll downs / manuals.
We also utilise (but don’t rely on!) some video coaching and playback.
The rides are at a manageable pace and also provide a great introduction the trail network at Red Hill.
Our approach is thorough but also relaxed and fun. These courses are perfect for developing confidence, setting up your bike and improving your technique and bike control allowing you to go on and ride more technical terrain on your own. The skills and knowledge acquired will always remain with you and provide a good basis for progression later on.
We incorporate lots of extra information on bike set up, equipment, riding destinations and safety.
